I have no political affiliations. It is my opinion that all politicians are "cut purses" and are working for the sole purpose of feathering their own nests.

Inspired by my experiences in dealing with the UK Border Agency    Now Read On

I have separated my experiences and discoveries into separate sections. I hope that you will find something on this site that will help you. Just click on the headings on the left hand side of the page.

So Where Did It All Begin ?

I suppose it all began in October 2006, sitting in the Irish Bar in the departure lounge at Heathrow Airport. I was nursing the first of my 3 pints of bitter, waiting for my delayed flight to Tashkent Uzbekistan.

The bar was full and most people were smoking as we were still ten months away from the deprivation of the right to smoke in public places imposed by Her Majesty's Government. It seemed though that I was the only one who did not discard my lighter in the recepticle provided before going through security as I drew a constant stream of people to my table in search of a light.

I remember looking around at my fellow travellers, especially lone travellers like myself, and wondering about  their destinations and reasons for their journeys. Dispensing lights did create some conversations, creating a feeling of cameraderie. This was the start of my adventure, for the first time, I was really venturing into the unknown.

Well, in all honesty, I suppose that it really started when the Mrs. Barker of 20 years, declared our marriage over. Or to be more exact, after I had stopped feeling sorry for myself and deciding that I still had a life in front of me at the tender age of Fifty seven.

i met Nelly on the internet in August of that year and we were about to meet for the first time. I was on the threshold of my journey into the world of visas, application forms and petty bureaucracy.
